We build software, and we run what we build.

North West Data Products is a UK software company. We build a small number of products, run them in production ourselves, and keep working on them afterwards — rather than handing something over and moving on.

The products have little to do with one another. One handles customer enquiries, bookings and job records for trades firms. One is the website and reporting for a not-for-profit clinic, built for the charity to own. What they share is the company behind them, and how each one is built: for a specific job rather than as a general-purpose tool, and maintained afterwards by the people who wrote it.

Our work

Hujra

Customer enquiries, bookings and job records for trades businesses

Small trades firms lose hours every week to work that isn't the work: taking enquiries, chasing details, writing the same reply for the fifth time, keeping track of what was agreed and what still needs doing. Hujra handles that side of things.

It runs the front desk. Enquiries reach a small firm by phone, by WhatsApp and through its website, at all hours, and Hujra is built to take them on any of those channels. It captures each one, pulls out the details that matter — what the job is, where, how urgent — and turns it into a job record instead of a missed call.

It answers the straightforward questions directly, following rules the business sets: yes, we cover that area; here's the callout charge; here's when we could come out. Anything that needs a person gets escalated to one. Work that's agreed gets booked in, and each job is tracked through to completion — what was done, by whom, and what's owed.

Hujra is in active development.

The Thandkoi Clinics

Website and reporting for a not-for-profit clinic

The Thandkoi Clinics is a family-run, not-for-profit primary care clinic in Swabi, Pakistan, funded on a Zakat and Sadaqa model. We built its website and the reporting behind it, and we run both — the code is the charity's own. Staff upload a daily export from the clinic's software, and the system turns that into published impact reports and newsletters.

Names, dates of birth and addresses are stripped before anything is stored: ages are banded rather than kept, and locations stay coarse. Every published figure is counted from those records in code rather than written up from memory, and the written summaries are only produced for groups large enough that no one individual stands behind them.

How we work

We start from the work as it is already done, rather than from a blank page. For a trades firm that means how enquiries actually arrive and what happens to them next. For the clinic it means the export its own software already produces and the newsletters its staff already write. The software is fitted to that, not the other way round.

Each product holds as little personal information as it can and still do its job. That is decided at the start, in what the software is allowed to store, rather than tidied up afterwards. Where we handle information on another organisation's behalf, we do so on its instructions and under a written agreement.

Some steps in some products use AI — drafting a suggested reply for a person to approve, pulling structured details out of an enquiry, writing up figures that have already been worked out. It is one component among many rather than the product itself, and the rules and the numbers come from the software rather than the model: every published figure is counted in code before anything is written about it, and in Hujra automated messages follow rules the business sets, anything outside those rules is escalated to a person, and staff can review, edit or override what goes out.
